  • He has the power to hear everything women are thinking. Finally... a man is listening.
Storyline
Nick, a somewhat chauvanistic advertising exec hot shot, has his life turned haywire when a fluke accident enables him to hear what women think. At first all he wants to do is rid himself of this curse, until a wacky psycologist (played to perfection by Bette Midler) shows him that this could be used to his advantage! His first target is Darcy McGuire, the very woman that got the promotion he wanted. But just as his plan is beginning to work, love gets in the way...

    For Females Only
If you’re gonna make a movie, make it interesting to both males and females. I personally lived this movie, but I don’t know one male that enjoyed it. I thought the acting was good, and the plot alright. It’s worth watching if you’re female.

not quite a chick-flick, but close. I enjoyed it

Had some funny moments mixed in with dull emotion-less moments.
Mel Gibson’s character has the ability to listen in on women’s thoughts. Alone, this premise provides a boundless amount of comedic material, but the movie has other story lines to fulfill. Thus, its downfall.

Different concept, which was adapted extremely well by the cast

    Men pull out your note-pads……
Great movie! I laughed so hard my face was hurting. If you haven’t seen it grab your keys and catch the next showing.

mel is forever sexy, movie did not meet humourous expectation but good storyline

Written and directed by women, so it really does know what women want..
Guys, don’t expect to learn anything but the normal "Don’t look down her shirt", "Don’t tell sexist jokes at work" and "Compliment her mind, not her figure". However, there is one scene where Mel gives Marissa Tomei a wild night in bed; but we never find out exactly what he does! That is the information we NEED to know!

‘What Women Want’ was funny enough to keep me entertained and runs at a fast enough pace so it never feels choppy.

I read that the ending was re-written 3 times and it really shows that they couldn’t decide how to end it so it was just thrown together. That did take away from the whole experience.

Go see it if you would like to see Mel Gibson wearing panty-hose, nose-cleansing strips and lipstick. Believe me, it diminishes that ‘Mad Max’ image I always held.

Hey guys, not for women only…
Actually, not a bad movie. Good to take your girl, wife, spouse to
for some light hearted fun. A little overboard on the gay jokes but
    some funny moments nonetheless.

This movie was a purely good time!
Not just a "girl" flick, seems like the whole point is for the guys to see it from this point of view… Gibson does a great job evolving from pig to real guy. Laughed a lot, too.

They showed all the funny scenes in the previews.
I liked the movie and I thought Mel Gibson did a great job but it wasn’t as funny as I expected. All the funny scenes were shown in the commercials and previews. The storyline with his daughter kind of fell apart and left me hanging at points but all in all I would recommend seeing it.

A fun movie for a man who can laugh at himself
Lighthearted, fun entertainment. The movie begins with Mel as an incredible womanizer, yet he is just incapable of not being likable, even when he is playing a bad guy. This is reminiscent of Groud Hog Day, with the main character at first horrified, then having fun with the situation, and finally growing up. No thought provoking, deep feelings in this movie; just plain entertainment, which is what I go to the movies for in the first place. I love Mel Gibson.

  22. kitol

    Fun and entertaining
Forget the message and what you have left is lots of good fun, physical humor, and playfulness. Very enjoyable.

  23. canbu

Fun but very SOFT ate the end
It’s a shame such a nice movie ends this bad… very, very weak end..

They should have done a litle better in the last minutes, looks like the did not know how to end the movie.

  24. tove

    Cute chick flik
The movie started out a little slow…and ended a little slow, but it was pretty good overall. I thought the chemistry between Gibson and Hunt was great and he pulled off his part well.

I thought the story-line of Gibson and his daughter was a little lacking, but overall I was highly entertained by this romantic comedy. My boyfriend said he liked it too although it really is female humor! :)

  25. olau

    Decent romantic comedy.
One of the better romantic comedies I’ve seen. The "premise" may be a bit overdone at times, but got quite a bit of laughter. The romance kicks in and laughs pretty much leave the picture at some point.

My only REAL complaint - the direction sucked. I hate to sound like some movie reviewer wannabe, but seriously, this director did NOT GET IT. She had no clue what was going on. If it weren’t for decent writing and acting this movie is a zero. To her credit she did do the Father of the Brides, Private Benjamin, and a few others. ‘k enough movie class I’m a smart movie guy crap.
