Good, scary,
This is a good ghost story, but the "thriller" aspects, while adding to the scariness, makes it more for the teens than an adult.
A movie for patient thinkers…
like a good flix that holds your curiousity to the end and fill you in as a true classic mystery? You’ll love this flix.
pretty good
Creepy and paced well. Suffers slightly from Bruce Willis’s mugging to the camera but that’s about the worst of it.
A mediocre movie with an interesting ending that makes it worth seeing.
Definitely recommended

Overall: 8
Not nearly as suspenseful or exciting as I had hoped for
even better on second viewing
It’s fantastic but has been ruined by being copied over and over again.
Not too bad.
Okay, it wasn’t the best movie, but I enjoyed it. It could have used a better script. I didn’t like the way everything fit together, but it had good intentions. I don’t think it deserved as much credit as it got, but overall it wasn’t too bad.
If you don’t know the ending it’s a must see.
Great movie, but not all that scary. Oh well.
it didnt accomplish that much but was entertaing for the most part
A good idea and great actors make it worthwhile.
Great Movie…..
You may have to rewind the end of the movie at least once to understand the ending.
Sixth Sense ending will astonish and surprise you.
"Sixth Sense" is a great movie about a boy who has a great gift of being able to communicate with the dead, but whose gift scare the heck out of him until an understanding soul (Bruce Willis) decides to take him under his wing and help him in more ways than one. If you like suprise endings and are interested in the supernatural, Sixth Sense is for you.
It’s way overrated but I wouldn’t say it’s horrible. Definitely not scary.
I don’t know why everyone thinks it’s so good, but I thought it was very stupid
great movie
great movie! the dvd has a pretty nice section called "hints and clues" too. definitely makes the movie even more enjoyable.
Funny. Sad. Scary. Beautiful movie. One of my favorites ever.
Smart, scary, intriguing, and surprising.
Definately a movie worth watching. Very touching and moving.
Amazing! Not any words left, OUTSTANDIND!
I came with low expectations to this movie and I was totally surprised, it was played magically by the best actors there is. Haley Joel Osment - who played the kid - was the best actor not to mention Bruce willis who is a brilliant actor always! Not to miss!
The best movie ever
I loved the idea of this movie. Here we have a kid who is believes he sees ghosts. Here we have a therapist who believes he can help this kid. Typical sounding, isn’t it? But no. This movie really grabs you and doesn’t let go. You will NEVER expect the ending. Outstanding!!! Finally a movie that doesn’t fit in that old tiresd Hollywood formula. SEE THIS MOVIE
Best movie I’ve seen in a long time. One for the home collection.
Simply outstanding!!! That describes it all
great, interesting and kinda spooky
Scary & well done. Afterward, you might wonder whether they pulled a fast one.
so scary, and excellently acted. go with someone you can hold on to!
i was so totally surprized by the ending (who wasn’t??) so if you haven’t seen it, don’t try to find out what the ending is, just GO SEE IT. i went with 3 other people and we’re still trying to figure it all out. definitely going to see it again… we all have conflicting things we THINK we saw, but no one’s sure…
Wow!
This movie is a real gem. It was exciting, scary, and thoughtful. It is always great to go into a movie and come away feeling that the movie was worth double then what you paid for. Usually it is the opposite. This is the way I felt about this movie - twice! I learned so much more the second time I went and was still surprised by the movie.
The acting was superb. Bruce Willis was excellent and the little kid was amazing. Although I will admit that some of the parts were slightly cheesy at times. Still, the movie more than made up for it.
If you like chilling movies, go see this one.
A scary movie with depth.
I thought Bruce Willis is great in this. No longer the quick witted and obnoxious player, as in some of his actions movies (which I love also), he is great as he shares the screen with the child star, Haley Joel Osment. This drama leads you in and has a great story. There is an afterlife; that’s what the movie tells me. And to not fear it.
Amazing!!! The ‘huh’? feeling turns to chills when you see it the 2nd time
The movie is great…It totally leaves you in a whirlwind after you see it the first time…You leave the theatre THINKING that you saw things that were there, but really weren’t, or where they? Then since your mind is playing tricks on you, see it again…Then THAT is when the fun begins!!!
The second time REALLY freaks you out because all the stuff that you though that you saw, really didn’t happen…For instance, the scene at the restaurant, and she is there, and he isn’t…HE DOESN’T TOUCH A THING…he doesn’t move the chair out, he just sits…
I saw the movie when it first came out, and to this day, I still get freaked out, when I go into the kitchen, and my girlfriend leaves the pantry doors are opened…
Spiritual suspense!
Not since that scene in Ghostbusters where the librarian scares the hell out of Ray has a movie kept me on the edge of my seat. The Sixth Sense did just that and also created a wonderfully thrilling mystery.
Starring Bruce Willis as a child therapist, who is dis-heartened over a previous incident in his past that took the life of one of his patients. With this haunting his thoughts, he studies a boy with a supernatural power that links his mind with that of ‘dead people’. The boy played effectively by Haley Joel Osmond befriends Willis and they both learn to accept his ‘Sixth Sense’.
Through their own recognition and understanding, the chilling plot takes it’s own twists and turns that leads to a suspenseful conclusion. The Sixth Sense is a movie about life, death, fear and the struggles for hope.
After it was all over all I could think was…OF COURSE!!!….DUH!!
A good movie, but afterwards you only can think of one word: "SO?"
I saw this, actually quite scaring, movie with my soon twelve year old brother. He didn’t want to stay the whole movie cause he thought it was extremely scaring. Well is the movie so good, and so scaring as everyone says?
The answer is; no.
The movie itself is very well-made, and you definitely feel that something is wrong.(and that is the "twist" in the very end)
But you cannot get rid of the feeling that this movie could have been so much better.
Take a bit of "the Excorcist" and a little bit of "the blair witch project" (the good parts), and you have a quite good film. Nothing is really bad about it, the film is a bit slow, and the actors are great. BUT…
It is not an EXTRAORDINARY film. It do not hit the jackpot.
In the middle of the film, you can feel "this is great" but after the ending, you just feel the error of most of the horrors today; so what?
Very creepy and spooky. Excellent story. Too bad they put Bruce Willis in it.
Bruce Willis + Some Little Kid = Lame, right? Wrong!
I was really skeptical going into this movie, and it pleasantly suprised me. Sure, it’s big Hollywood, but it’s good big Hollywood — suprisingly touching and complex, and it sports some truly groovy twists and turns.
My one big complaint: Not very scary.
Both Bruce and that Haley Osment kid are great
but the "twist" i saw coming a mile away. all in all a good movie. I hope they remember the kid when oscar nominations are dished out.
THE SIXTH SENSE came out of nowhere and luckily, we have all found it…
THE SIXTH SENSE, starring Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment. Directed by M. Night Shalyman. 1999.
We have been very blessed this summer. It all started with Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Despite what you thought of the film, it was still a motion picture experience we will never forget. Then, we saw Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, which turned out to be better then the original. Then, we saw the end of Stanley Kubrick’s great career. And in recent weeks, we have seen the Indie sensation, The Blair Witch Project and also the sharp comedy, Bowfinger. And last, but certainly not least, The Sixth Sense. It is very comparable to The Blair Witch Project in the fact that they both keep you interested until the end, and then shock you with very haunting and chilling endings. They are both great films and very worthy of their four star ratings, but I would have to give a slight edge to The Blair Witch Project, only due to the fact that Witch’s characters are a little stronger and The Sixth Sense goes slightly too long, but is still great, nonetheless.
The premise is that Bruce Willis is a child psychologist in Philadelphia. The film starts with Malcolme Crowe (Bruce Willis) winning an award for his work. Crowe and his wife go to celebrate, but they are interrupted by an old patient who broke into their home, played by Donnie Wahlberg. He shoots Crowe and the film moves on to next Fall. Crowe takes a new patient, Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), who displays the same simptoms of Vincent Gray (Wahlberg). Crowe wants to help Sear, to make up for his failure with Gray.
Bruce Willis is excellent in this film. He is the prototypical Hollywood actor. He can do action, as shown in the Die Hard trilogy. And he can also do serious acting, and he displays that trait in The Sixth Sense. He is completely believable, which is needed in this sort of film. The premise not exactly something you hear about every day, so each actor had to have a sense of believability. And Willis does.
However, compared to Haley Joel Osment, Willis is trash. Osment gives a great performance as Cole Sear. He is able to display such great amounts of emotional depth despite his young age. He gives a better performance than I have seen from other veteran actors. I had heard the hype after the release of The Sixth Sense that Osment deserved an Oscar nomination. I did not believe it…Until now, that is. He got such a demanding role, and is able to outshine everyone else in the film with a terrific performance. And his career can only go up from here. Some of you may remember him as Forrest Gump Jr. from Forrest Gump.
The rest of the cast is solid and basically just feed off the performances of Osment and Willis. The reason this film is so good is that it does not burden you with too many subplots. The main plot is, of course, trying to solve the mystery of what is bothering Cole. The only other subplots are the relationship between Malcome and his wife, and the relationship between Cole and his mother. It is simple, straightforward, despite being so complex and interesting.
Overall, The Sixth Sense is this summer’s must-see. Just like The Blair Witch Project it is cheap and interesting. Also like The Blair Witch Project it is not as scary as you may think, but character interaction and depth make up for it in both cases. Expect to see Haley Joel Osment and maybe even Bruce Willis at the Oscars. The only thing holding those two men (and children) from making acceptance speeches is their summer release. But, their performances are so strong the voting committee should still be thinking about them come Oscar Season. And when you start talking Oscars, you know you have just seen a good film.
Final Verdict: A
Not QUITE as good as everyone says, but…
A single plot twist at the very end of the movie still doesn’t completely offset the feeling you get throughout that there is a real movie CLIMAX waiting just around the corner that never really occurs. I agree it’s a really good movie, but for some the long wait for the Plot Twist(tm) may not be worth the 1.5+ hour wait for it.
A real winner! It’s on my purchase list. A movie I won’t forget!
Bruce Willis was awesome. The kid was awesome. The story was awesome. I cannot wait to see it again and again and again.
It so happens that Thrillers are my favorite movies, so this movie was right up my alley!
The best film I’ve seen in a long time.
one of the best movies i’ve seen in a while
