Too bloody and repeated itself
Brutal and bloody…no candy coating here.
A good movie. I’m still amazed about the languages. That was my favorite aspect of the movie.

This movie is a work of art, though it is kind of harsh. Despite the controversy, I recommend it. I have nothing bad to say about it.
Impressive even to an atheist like me.
Even a godless heathen like me enjoyed the movie. I may be a nonbeliever with a one way ticket straight to the lowest levels of hell, I still found the acting and story quite compelling. The acting was powerful and the use of the old languages like Latin and Aramaic (at least I assume it was Aramaic since I’ve never actually heard that one in use before) was quite refreshing.
Familiarity with the story of the last moments of Christ’s life didn’t deter from the visual spectacle. The movie was much like what I envisioned the whole scenario would have been like.
As for the movie being anti-semitic… Well maybe. The early jews were portrayed as rather brutal in their actions.
Consider though that religious fanaticism was much more rampant in the old days. Heretics and blasphemers were treated in a very extreme manner. On top of that, Judaism at its very core does not believe that their Messiah is on earth yet. Which means Jesus is most definitely not the "King of the Jews" as the title may imply.
So what would a bunch of old fanatical religious nutcases do to someone who claimed that he was their spiritual leader? What else, they’d want the heretic turned into meat.
Keep in mind that this is as written in the New Testament. What we have here has always been grounds for theological conflict. Next year I hope that Jews will fund a movie denying the new testament. I want to see Christians protest in outrage that Jews claim that Jesus is not the messiah. *rubs hands together with glee*
deep graphic, pretty accuarate , 2 me hard read some subtitles
Very good look at a story we all know.
It’s amazing how a fairly short timespan can be depicted in a full movie - and not feel long.
This is an excellent movie of a story we all know - told in such a graphic manner that even non-believers are bound to be touched by it.
I could have done without the special effects for the parts where evil is at play - the story could easily have carried itself without it.
