    Powerhouse Cast, Decent Movie
I am a HUGE Sean Penn fan. Anything that he’s in, I will watch.

Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon are also worth a peek anytime (save Bacon’s token what-the-hell-were-you-thinking movie, ‘Trapped’), and putting the three of them together is the perfect combination for this film, which in itself is a mystery.

Robbins, Bacon, and Penn play childhood friends who grew up together in Southie, the hard-knock division of Boston. A tragedy in their childhood eventually leads them to grow apart, and it isn’t until later years as adults that they interact more than just saying a casual hello on the street.

Penn’s character loses a daughter in a murder, thus drawing the three men together again, as Bacon’s character is now a cop who is assigned to the case. Robbins’ role in this is the grey area- could he have had something to do with the girl’s murder?

The entire movie is a tense drama, the whole time inviting the viewer into it’s tangled mystery. The end of the movie is a twisted climax that definitely won’t be forgotten- perhaps even strengthening our own beliefs in how we would react to our own family members being taken from us.

It also begs for us never to forget that experiences in our childhood will always lend a hand in how we think and react as adults. It’s a factor that is many times forgotten.

Penn won an Oscar for the role, and Robbins was nominated for one- that recognition in itself should entice the audience, not to mention that this film was directed by Clint Eastwood. It’s definitely worth a watch.

    Good drama mystery..
I think this was a bit overhyped for me. I expected more. If my expectations had been more realistic I’d probably go with an 8.
