good acting, so-so story

Worth seeing because it is based on a true story, however, the movie did not transport me from the theater. In other words, I was aware the whole time that I was watching a movie. A really good movie makes me forget where I am and I feel like I’m a part of the events I am watching.
great acting saves this movie’s life
Based on a true story, Men of Honor recounts the tale of two very different men in the U.S. Navy, back in the time when black men were not given equal treatment in the military.
DeNiro plays a Master Diver who has made it to the top but failed to stay there because of less-than-honorable conduct. On his way down the ladder, his life is altered by Gooding, Jr. who is fighting against all odds to become what DeNiro once was. DeNiro regains honor by helping Gooding, Jr. realize his full potential.
The movie seems to drag at times, and the stories seem incredibly predictable and unbelievable, which is a testament to the true story it is telling.
A fun movie, but a little too predictable.
