pretty cool premise dragged down by ’slasher’ trappings

Be prepared to jump through the ceiling
The advertising campaign behind "Final Destination" was one of the shrewdest ever: show actual audience reactions to specific scenes. Little did I know going into the movie that I’d end up jumping more than anyone I had witnessed in the commercials. There are quite a few scenes that are so scary, they either: (A) have you leaning as far back into your seat as possible, or (B) have you jumping into the seat of the person next to you. Either way, this movie does not leave you afterwards–I saw it twice in theaters, and after each viewing, I started getting paranoid that "Death" was out to get me. It’s tied with "What Lies Beneath" and "The Others" for being the scariest films of all time (in my opinion, anyway). Definitely recommended to all fans of genuinely terrifying horror movies.

A word of advice: Don’t watch this movie the day before you fly in an airplane.

Well-made dead-teen movie, better than most

Very predictable, yet still manages to be suspenseful.

Did I see this movie? I have vague impressions of a dead Seth Green…
Yeah, yeah I saw it. All of it. Stayed awake too. Bully for me.

There’s apparently a little trend going on to make these sort of "teen" thrillers, making the protagonists just a wee bit older, and killing off a bunch of them during the movie.

It’s sort of a Scream deal, but they take it more seriously here. Think Scream, think The Faculty, etc. etc.

This movie is really just a string of set pieces where the writer tried to see how Rube Goldbergian he could get with the end result being somebody lying dead on the floor. The stuff in between is just filler, and you can safely go get something to eat and come back when you hear people screaming.

This flick isn’t *awful*. It’s OK, not too bad if you’re bored and desperate for a movie to rent… and this one shows up on TBS or something. There are some good set-pieces, and the acting isn’t too bad.

Oh, and don’t try to follow the logic. I’m sure they went to great lengths to make sure it all works according to some kind of rules, but it’s really not worth trying to figure it all out. Just say "ok, fine, cool, electricity works that way. I believe it." Just repeat that to yourself while you suck Coca Cola to keep from napping.

    Good Date movie
Excellent idea on trying to escape death. I don’t mean some deranged killer, but death itself. I like a movie that goes home with me after seeing it. I kept waiting to get struck by a car or have a tree fall on me. It certainly made me think. It will make you jump out of your seat in a few places.

Kinda predictiable but I would see it again.
Even though you kinda knew what was going to happen I thought it was great just to see it. Some scenes were funny and some made you sit on the edge of your seat wondering what was going to happen next. Definantly not scary. Overall great movie.

I have to admit that some of the dialogue is kinda cheesy at times but nobody is perfect. The plot is very original and when you leave the move you kinda wonder weither or not could some of it be true. This movie is worth it.

  13. jrabad

I never seen anything like it.
I think other should go see this movie, it is definitely worth it. It is a thriller like no other, not at all scary. some scenes were funny, so go out and see it today in a theater near you.

Unique and chilling approach to Death’s toll and those who pay the price! Great!

Under normal circumstances I would not see this movie…
The only real reason why I wanted to see this movie was because I watched them film all the Paris scenes in my hometown (Victoria, BC). Other then one shocking scene, the whole movie was utterly predictable and needlessly gory. I think the story had potential, but in the end it turns out to be another typical teen thriller movie (except the teens arn’t killing themselves this time around…).

I know a lot of people will like this movie, especially since it puts an interesting twist onto this tired genre. But let’s face it, do we really need to see people shredded to bits purely for entertainment?

  16. THIS IS THE ASOMWET WILDESTR COOLEST BESTEST MOVIE EVER U HAVE TO C ALL OF THEM D00D!!!

P/S UR QUER GAY LEZ IF U DONT !!!!!
