    An intelligent "guy film."
This didn’t appeal to me at first, but the men in my family liked it so I gave it a try. I had to watch it twice to get it, but that’s me.

  2. peg

    overrated
It’s odd that a movie with two such talented actors would suck so much. I guess that’s what happens when people are intent on making message films that lack conviction.

Alternatively I think some more aggressive editing could have made for a passable movie.

This one amazed me. Much more than I expected.

lose your expectations about this one…
This film is so bad-ass, you’ll want to watch it over and over, you’ll think of it as you go through your serf-like existence, you’ll want to escape your swedish furniture and settle in some dilapidated home on skid row….you get the picture. This film speak volumes about the utter lack of meaning amongst the working class, the horror, o the horror of spending endless hours of jumping through the corporate hoops, performing meaningless tasks and adding to the mindless drivel that is the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. Brad Pitt shows once again that he is o so much more than just a pretty face; he’s an iconoclast of raw human energy in this film. Ed Norton’s smart, quippy narration carries a few sound bytes you will mutter whilst metabolizing within your veal-pen/aka/work-cubicle…if you rent the DVD do yourself a favor and watch the film two times… once like normal, then a second time with the director’s commentary turned on… Pitt and Norton as well as Helena B. Carter join in with some insightful tidbits and… botttom line: if you have any conscience or any hope of doing great things in your life — this film will get under your skin and rock your world.

I am Jack’s sense of a overwhelming achievements
This film is slick, fast and brutally enjoyable. Sharp lines, bone crunching violence, a clever take on modern life and a "do-or-die" slalom style of film making help lend this film a sense of inevitability. From the first fight in the car park it becomes clear where this is all heading, as a viewer I was not surprised by the freak power revolution of the ‘all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world’ brought about by Pitt/Norton. Eyebrows will certainly be raised at the final plot twist, but this can all be taken in the stride of an aware film goer. The movie looks dark and fantastic and the Dust Brothers soundtrack perfectly accompanies the unrelenting pace and unabashed stylisation. The acting too is little short of awesome. Brad Pitt dominates the proceedings and seems to continually push the boundaries of what is considered outrageously cool. Tyler Durden is certain to become one of film’s greatest anti heroes and will no doubt find himself in the hall of fame alongside the Italian Job’s Charlie Crocker, Han Solo and Pulp Fiction’s Jools. Norton also excels as Pitts natural foil and the ever vigilant narrator. And the delectable Helena Bonham Carter finally casts off her petticoats for the sexy uber-slut look, and she easily keeps pace with the on-form Pitt. A string of cameos also helped lend a lot of weight to this cast. I couldn’t help but feeling that I really was watching a defining moment in film history. Fight Club has set a precedent amongst films to be better, funnier, faster and more intelligent.

    Originality can’t compensate for disjointedness
Supposedly, "Fight Club" is a parody of pop culture. Whatever. To me, all it is is a gruesome series of bloody fights with a good ending (starts and finishes the same way). The "twist" was ruined for me by my ex-girlfriend, but I caught on anyway. Those subliminal messages weren’t really subliminal at all; I caught every single one as it popped up onscreen. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton demonstrate their above-average acting skills, but they’re given little to work with in this misguided movie. Over-hyped and way overrated, this film suffers from lack of coherence. Without the glossy cinematography, it is average Hollywood fare.

No deep insights for me and seems aimed at depressed teenagers…
But hey, the visual style was good and it held my interest the whole way through.

Grim, funny, smart, insightful, inciting, brutal

If you can get past the violence….then its a deeply intense movie…
like I say, once you get past the violence, its a great movie. Intense plot that will keep your attention till the very end.

Like others said, see it twice you get much more out of it.

    Very well written.

  12. jowenn

Nothing spectacular, but different and entertaining - great soundtrack!

  13. eydwc

Advertised wrong. Need to see it twice to get it all.

  14. joanna

almost perfect! there should be quarter points so that this could get 9.75

Finch is un-real in his talent, if he hadn’t made se7en this would be his best!

    Another one bites the dust…
Finchers best movie ever is a brilliant piece of work, with (the new Robert De Niro) Edward Norton as our nameless narrator.
The movie has deep and is probably one of the most cleverest movies to date.(can I describe it that way? I

Trailers were quite misleading! I really enjoyed it! Music ROCKED!
The trailers told you of a violent movie about a secretive "Fight Club". I have to say, they couldn’t have been further from the truth about this movie!

I went into this movie reluctantly - I had nothing better to do that evening! Since I love thrillers, I was pleasantly surprised as a great thriller unfolded before me!

The best thing about this movie? Not knowing ANYTHING about it before seeing it!

The Dust Brothers rocked the soundtrack too…

  18. uon

Great flick, wicked twist….but a little far out…made me think

A great film. Finch’s best work yet. Loved the commentary on modern male society
This movie was incredibly entertaining while keeping your mind moving. I especially liked the comments on our modern male society or lack there of.
"a generation raised by our mothers"

good stuff, I highly recommend it.

Much deeper than one would expect. Has its dose of violence but not gratuitous.
One of the best films I’ve seen in the last few years, as it is much deeper than what you expect coming into it. Great acting by the main cast. It has weird moments, but you have to just sit down and enjoy the ride.

  21. oleg

Very unique, suprisingly different. I will never shop at IKEA again.

  22. gulxv

A little bit too far out there for me.

Must be a guy thing! See it twice, here’s why! -
I truly urge everyone to see it twice because there are little tidbits you aren’t likely to catch the first Time around. Did you know that they flash Brad Pitt’s image on the screen on several occasions during the movie before they even introduce his character? Just to see the movie with a new perspective (knowing the secret to the bit "plot twist.") is very refreshing.

  24. lorie

very cool movie. worth watching if you can handle a black eye or two

  25. prxep

BAM! that sums it up. another David Fincher masterpiece.

  26. heber

Remember first rule of Fight Club, do not talk about fight club. So let’s NOT!
