Storyline
Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) is an average woman struggling against her age, her weight, her job, her lack of a man, and her many imperfections. As a New Year's Resolution, Bridget decides to take control of her life, starting by keeping a diary in which she will always tell the complete truth. The fireworks begin when her charming though disreputable boss (Hugh Grant) takes an interest in the quirky Miss Jones and the ups and downs of their ill-fated relationship prove hilarious and touching at once. Thrown into the mix are Bridget's band of slightly eccentric friends and a rather disagreeable acquaintance (Colin Firth) who Bridget cannot seem to stop running into or help finding quietly attractive.

    Renee Zellweger is delightful.
I am not a big fan of romantic comedies, but this one is fun.

Feels like playing Russian Roulette and getting the bullet.
Ok, maybe not quite that bad. I did laugh to myself on a couple of occasions during really ridiculous moments. Really though there was nothing special. Just ahother Chick Flick.

  3. fguggs

Modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but this one sucks

  4. piter

It’s a good romantic comedy. Well done.

  5. tim

    I was quite pleased, surprisingly

  6. vinit

  7. charlk

    enjoyed it a lot.

  8. ardent

typical Americanized fare, but done to seem British
I have seen British films before and this is purely American. But the fact is that I enjoy British films for their quirkiness. This is American humor. Anyway, it wasn’t bad. There’s love and humor, and suspense. Colin Firth is a girl’s tried and true.

This movie sucks. Renee Zellweger stinks. The boxer scene was really sick also

  12. keller

This role was written for Renee.

    the perfect follow-up
"Bridget Jones’s Diary" is the perfect follow up for Renee Zellweger, coming on the heels of "Nurse Betty" which may have been the 2nd best movie of 2000! Soon we’ll be hearing about Renee’s 20 million dollar picture deals!

  14. Noris

Loved It! This is a really funny movie. The Brit humor is outstanding!

    Really, really funny
I really did enjoy ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’. For the first time, I don’t think I have anything bad to say about a movie.

I laughed a ton of times, the pacing was never slow and everything was great.

From what the girls tell me, this was just a 2001 update of Pride and Prejudice; right down to Colin Firth playing a man named Mr. Darcy.

    I still won’t see that though :-P

    Silly BUT lots of fun

    Such a great movie
I loooved this movie. I have to admit that i am a HUGE Firth fan and have been since i saw A&E’s Pride and Prejudice. It is quite obvious that this movie has many similarities to P&P and I was so thrilled by how funny it was…I was cracking up through out the whole thing. Hugh Grand and Zelwegger were terrific and Firth looked stunning as always!

YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE. I have to say the the men in the theater enjoyed it as well (it seemed so). So check it out! I plan on seeing it again! Definite DVD material. :)
