Good story.
Cute and funny.
funny, touching, witty, fascinating, endearing. go santa go!
Type casting at its finest. Hugh Grant might not have been acting!
Funny movie, not exactly great cinematic work…
And this is because it is hard to put a novel to a movie. Nick Hornby’s other book-as-movie is High Fidelity. I thought that movie was a big flop, with the antagonist trying to make his chauvinistic male views seem redeemable. This movie does have a redeeming male leading character but the stories are slow in the first hour…slow in the sense that we are waiting for a connection with the varied stories. But once it gets going, the movie does try and pull us in, but I just never felt completely compelled to it, or felt for the main character. Nonetheless, a funny movie if you need to spend 2 hours somehow.
decent british language chick flick, few girls, boy and a single guy
cheesy? no don’t think so,.
another hornby novel hits the screen, and I think this is the best so far.
some of the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more, but the main ones did a good job of conveying the story with little or no fluff.
great music as well provided by Badly Drawn Boy. if you’ve not heard him you should check it out.
The story was a little slow. However,
Hugh Grant turns in another good performance.
