Storyline
Valentine's Day 1988: At the school dance, geeky Jeremy Melton bravely faces one rejection after the other when asking four popular girls to dance with him. A fifth girl, plump and insecure, agrees, but they end up making out under the bleachers. When a group of school bullies catches them, the girl claims that Jeremy attacked her. This causes them to strip off his clothes and beat him up in front of the entire school. Flash forward to 2001. We meet the five girls who were in that school gym: Kate (Marley Shelton), Paige (Denise Richards), Shelly (Katherine Heigl), Lily (Jessica Cauffiel) and the formerly plump Dorothy (Jessica Capshaw). They are all in their 20's now and trying to sort out their love lives, which is appropriate, since Valentine's Day is coming up. After a disastrous date with a loser, one of the girls, a pre-med student, is murdered by a Cherub-mask wearing killer who sent her a death threat in the form of a Valentine card prior to the attack. After the four remaining girls are reunited at her funeral, they all start receiving threatening cards and messages. At first they don't know who would want to hurt them, but eventually they figure that maybe Jeremy is responsible. Police records show that Jeremy has completely disappeared, so no one knows what he looks like. Could the formerly nerdish Jeremy have had plastic surgery and turned into one of the girls' handsome boyfriends? Who ever it is, the lone survivor has to put a stop to this spurned individual's murder spree before she, too, becomes a valentine to die for.

Not bad, but I’ve seen it all before (done much better).

holiday taylored horror movie bound to flop

Less than typical slasher flick. Don’t waste your money on this one.
I can’t believe I sat through that entire flick! And to make matters worse they didn’t even show anything more than a single bikini shot of Denese Richards! What a rip off!

Roses are red, violets are blue, if you pay to see this, you’re majorly SCREWED!
Or SCREAM IF YOU KNOW WHAT WAS IN YOUR BOXA CHOCKLITS LAST SUMMER. With the exception of David Boreanaz (ANGEL) and Denise Richards (STARSHIP TROOPERS and WILD THINGS), yet another anonymously attractive cast becomes cinematic sushi, in the kind of slipshod, messy filmmaking that movies like SCREAM were spoofing on.

This is the kind of movie where the audience is actually three steps ahead of the script. The casting is so suspect already, it doesn’t take much brain power to figure out who the killer is before the first pretty airhead has been sliced and diced. I never thought I’d find myself giving kudos to a mess like URBAN LEGEND, but director Jamie Blanks’ first effort plays like classic Hitchcock next to this mess.

Can you say "Saturday night desperation rental at Blockbuster?"

    Ouch..glad I didn’t pay for this one!
What can I say about this movie??? The plot holes were HUGE, and the little side stories ended up not pertaining to the story at all (the detective/video dating). I expected all the little stories to come together in the end. The first girl is killed in the manner that her Valentine card warns, and the rest don’t. Then all these lame people end up dying who are not even witnesses…they are just dead in these "spooky" scenes. BUT, for we women who are sick of perfectly shaped women getting all the roles, here you get a slut, an idiot, a perky blond, and a stupid blond who all get toasted…just as long as you don’t mind plot holes the size of the Grand Canyon in between the real scenes.
