In the heart of the beautiful and historically rich Dordogne Valley of France, a team of archeology students and their professor diligently work to uncover the ruins of a 14th-century castle. For Professor Edward Johnston, the project is the culmination of a lifelong dream. Aided by assistant professor Andre Marek, his son Chris and students Kate, Stern and François, Johnston has made major strides in unearthing not only La Roque Castle but also a monastery and structures from the surrounding village of Castlegard. But things are about to go haywire... Suspicious of the dig's benefactor, International Technology Corporation (ITC) and the man who runs it, Robert Doniger, Professor Johnston heads to ITC headquarters in New Mexico to get some answers, and while he's away, his students discover a chamber that has been sealed for more than 600 years. Marek and Kate descend into the unstable room, and just before a near disastrous cave-in, they make two startling discoveries — a bifocal lens, which couldn't have been invented before the chamber was sealed, and even more intriguing, a handwritten plea for help dated April 2, 1357...from Professor Johnston! Determined to solve the mystery, the students head for ITC headquarters, where they are stunned to learn of Doniger's new invention — a machine that can actually transmit three-dimensional objects through space. Although he meant for the device to revolutionize shipping, Doniger inadvertently opened a wormhole that leads directly to the 14th century, and Professor Johnston, who had insisted on experiencing the discovery himself, is now trapped in a vicious French vs. English feudal war! Can Johnston's loyal students survive one of the most violent battles in world history... and make it back to the 21st century alive?Actors

Good movie but just didnt have the talent
An interesting idea goes down the tubes, its an all too familiar scene on the silver screen. Studios often take the good ideas and give them little to no resources to develop them. "Timeline", unfortunately, falls victim to this premise.
Timeline starts out with a team of scientists excavating an anicent castle. They find a room that has never been opened before and they find some very strange things in there including some items that couldn’t have been manufactured in the past including a pair of eye glasses. Upon the knowledge of these finding the local science lab fills the scientists in on what they have been doing. They found out that they tapped into a worm hole that brings anyone that steps in, into the past. One of the scientists went into the past to help the lab determine why the worm hole opens at that point and give some insight as to the customs of the time but he gets captured and its up to the rest of the team of scientists to recover thier own.
There was a lot of potential in this movie but after seeing this one couldn’t help but feel like there was something missing. I thought about it for a while and I came to the following conclusions, the movie needed a good actor with a reputable name. Paul Walker may be a decent supporting actor to Vin Diesel in "Fast and the Furious", but notice when he became the lead actor in the sequel "2 Fast 2 Furious" the movie didn’t go anywhere. This movie has the same problem as the sequel but not quite as many flaws.
Many of the scenes were completely ridiculous and added little to the story. For those who don’t care here is exactly what I’m talking about. There was a scene where one of the characters sets fire to a castle’s munitions room. The character then jumps into a pile of straw and the entire section of castle is destroyed in a huge explosion killing a bunch of English soldiers. Seconds later the character gets out of the hay with no scratches at all. There are a couple of scenes like that and for me it ruins the movie. Just the impossibility of the actions alone boggle the mind.
This movie could be classified as a "B" movie. Its not going to ever be a blockbuster or sell a million DVD’s but it is a fun and entertaining movie. The storyline is a good storyline which makes the movie enjoyable and realistic. There is plenty of action scenes and if the medieval times is your thing then this is definitely your movie.
The only complaints I have about the movie is just the actors. If Mel Gibson was in this film and it was tweaked a little I could see this being a blockbuster. Unfortunately they didn’t give this movie the budget to work with but that is the way it goes sometimes and good concepts turn over average movies. As for the supporting cast of the film they were definitely lack luster. Paul Walker was so much stronger in presence than his co-workers and for that to show you know the rest of the cast didn’t do much.
