In an ancient time, predating the pyramids, the evil king Memnon is using the psychic powers of his sorceress Cassandra to fortell his great victories. In a last ditch effort to stop Memnon from taking over the world, the leaders of the remaining free tribes hire the assassin Mathayus to kill the sorceress. But Mathayus ends up getting much more than he bargained for. Not what I was expecting but turned out to be pretty good.

It was kind of cheesy, but enjoyable, nonethless.

The only thing I really looked forward to in this picture was more skin shots of Kelly Hu.
All you ladies out there, don’t hate me. You have to admit, when there’s nothing else to look forward to in a picture like this, you may as well try to find SOMETHING you like, right?
Decent movie. Couldn’t they get Rachel Weisz in there somehow?

and all I got was a two bit part as a claymation scorpion. errr wait, wrong movie.
The thing I like the most about this movie, similar to the mummy series, is that it doesn’t try to be more than it is. It’s a B comedy/action movie that does nothing more than entertain you. The rock, Dwayne Johnson, actually does a pretty good job, considering his previous role was 15 minutes as a clay scorpion.
Not much to offer as far a dialog but nonetheless, entertaining.

Formula action…
Lots of action, but it’s a total formula movie, with no surprises or suspense. Still, the Rock kicks buttocks.

New version of Conan the Barbarian
Not much new or terribly thought-provoking here, but if you paid to see a D&D film, why are you looking for intellect? There is plenty of good-old-boy camaraderie, sword fighting, bad guys vs. good guys, silly inept sidekick, and excellent special effects (enjoy the red ants!). If you approach this film with the intent of being entertained by a lot of exposed skin and flashing swords, you will have a good time and get your money’s worth.
Deserves a 5, but THE ROCK makes it a 6.
