What do you want,a REALISTIC comic book adaptation?
People who had an issue about him gaining "superpowers" should probably take a break from their angst and realize that this is, after all, a comic book adaptation. If they want realism they should ditch the movies because I can count the number of Times I’ve seen guns/knives/human ability accurately portrayed in films on one hand. And believe me, I’ve been waiting for such films.
Besides, the chemicals didn’t just BLIND Daredevil; in this comic book universe they probably imbued him with abilities way beyond normal man. Who knows what crazy chemical soup was sprayed into his eyes and absorbed by the body. Stan Lee giveth, Stan Lee taketh away…
As for Elektra… How are they going to segue to Jennifer Garner’s top billing movie in 2004 or 2005? My guess? She didn’t really "die" up on the rooftop in Daredevil. Being a "martial arts master" she probably dropped her vitals to as low as possible so as to slow down the loss of blood and all that metaphysical technojargon so prevalent in comics. So the crash cart arrives, hauls her off, and she spends some Time healing up. In a year or two she’s in her own movie. Let’s just hope they stick her into that gnarly red costume of hers.
Oh yea, so why did Bullseye manbeat her so easily if she’s supposed to be a master fighter? Simple. In Bulleye’s own words, "You’re good, but I’m magic." Nuff said. Keep in mind that Daredevil, X-men, Spiderman, and the upcoming Punisher all take place in the same universe with mutations, at least in the comic books.
I thought it to be a pretty decent movie. Would recommend.
I love comic movies but this one was only OK
I liked it. It was kind of sad though.
I will never be able to watch a Colin Farrell movie again. That was just sick, senseless killing.
not bad, not good.
it is good that i am in china and have not heard too much negative things about this movie. it is also good that they have the pirated versions here on dvd. . .
daredevil wasn’t that bad. the ending was kind of anticlimactic. i liked bullseye, and i wish i could have seen him more. jennifer gardner was hot but it was funny how she just sort of ‘became a superhero,’ just because she wanted to? whatever, it’s just a movie, let alone a COMIC BOOK, so watch it with a grain of salt. bottom line - i never found myself too bored with it?
the worst thing about these movies is that you always just think - ‘hey, that’s ben affleck’ in a daredevil suit. he’s going out with j-lo! they need to get no names, to make it more realistic, if this makes any sense. that’s why things like lord of the rings is good, and the hulk (eric bana of chopper small fame) will be good. don’t hire BEN AFFLECK, tom cruise, clooney etc. to play these guys! too much!
decent action, thought spider man had better story
I don’t understand why everyone hates this movie so much
Ok, sure, Ben Affleck was not the best choice for Daredevil — he’s obviously much more comfortable kvetching over coffee than brooding in shadows. But he still does a pretty good job, he looks cool in the costume, and he does well in the stunt department.
Jennifer Garner is great as Elektra — as is Colin whatsisface as Bullseye. And the movie as a whole holds together pretty well. It’s not complex by any means, but it presents a nice and dark atmosphere and a gritty cynical take on the superhero genre.
As for recreating the comic book, I think Daredevil much truer to the essense of its characters than the Batman movies or even the Xmen — not that those weren’t better movies, because they were. But Daredevil really feels like Daredevil. And that’s worth something.
It would be better without Ben but a good movie.
I went to see this with six other people and we all thought it was worth seeing. It is definitely a comic book movie so you have to go with that attitude to watch it. Daredevil is a superhero in the COMICS, so he can do things that a normal blind person can not. Good action, average story, I would see it again.
The darkest comic-book movie since Batman Returns
I personally don’t enjoy movies made from comic-books. I personally don’t enjoy comic-books. My knowledge of comic books extends to maybe a few Spider-Man issues. That’s about it.
That being said, I was expected rubish from DareDevil. I was pleasantly surprised. As far as comic-book movies go, this is one of the better ones.
You can’t compare it to X-Men or Spiderman though, they are different types of movies altogether. This one for the more mature audiences. The plot and even subject matter are dark. A 12-year old boy loses his eye sight and father. He looses his sight because of a freak bio-chemical accident.
I enjoyed this film on a few levels. I loved the camera work, choreography, editing, coloring and the ‘DareDevil vision’ effects. Many people complain that Ben Affleck is a horrible actor. In most cases, he is rather bad, but he brought DareDevil across good enough for me to forget that I was watching Ben Affleck.
This is not a great movie, but worth watching at least once.
This was so bad…
Why did this have to drop into the pitfall of turning a comic book into a movie vs making a movie about a comic book?
The point of a movie is to take the words from the pages and paint a moving picture that the audience can immerse itself in. You can’t do that with ‘DareDevil’. From the beginning everything is completely unreal and unbelievable.
You can watch X-Men and believe that there are mutants in this world. You can watch Matrix and think the world has come to an end for those individuals; but you cannot watch DareDevil and actually think any of it is actually happening.
Ben Affleck (DareDevil), using really bad voice-overs, tells us that when he was blinded his other 4 senses were heightened, giving him extraordinary balance (among other things). Oh, does that explain how a 12 year old kid can now perform jujitsu, execute a double-backflip somersault with a kick but can’t comb his hair in the morning?
Keep away, save your money. Don’t give them incentive to make a DD2.
Spider-man without any redeming qualities…maybe good if you love the comic
This was movie beyond bad in my opinion. I guess if it is really just the comic then it’s understandable…it was beyond suspending realism and just simply fit together in a neat little predictable way.
In Spider-man I knew i would have to suspend reality enough to believe that a man with spider-like qualities is a superhero…but it was impossible for me to believe that just because he is blind that he can do two backflips….I get the heightened senses thing, but what made him be able to jump and do acrobatics? It is just so much of what we have already seen so many times before.
The CGI was really not that good..they kept it blurry to mask the CGI and it just looked blurry. Do we have to have Matrix, wirestyle rehashed yet again?
Elektra’s character was equally lame with her tumbling…does she have superpowers or can every person do this stuff? I get that I have to suspend reality, but does it have to be lame?
