Piper earns 5 points on her own. Tally up the rest and we have…5 points.
It was ok. I wish I’d seen Ocean’s 11 instead.
The dumbest plotline I’ve ever heard of.
Hot women, bad acting, bad plot, bad everything else.
T & A…….. without the t and no a either.. pretty crappy
Cliche, cheezy, & teazy..
At least the chicks are hot
Ok in some spots, but they managed to turn it into average hollywood fare.
Pretty Good Movie…….
Great movie about following your dreams, the road to success and the friends that help you along the way.
Good for what it was, but I can’t say I thought it was awesome or anything
"Excellent entertainment value - reminded me of a ber here in Melb, Oz
They Got The UGLY Part Right…
Coyote Ugly is based on a New York City bar that was featured in a 1997 issue of GQ. My tip: you’d be better off finding the bar than going to see the film. While the dancing and girls may appeal to many of you, the terribly boring plot will quickly woo you to sleep before Coyote Ugly gets back to its basics — dancing and wet t-shirts.
Jerry Bruckheimer Productions oversaw production for Coyote Ugly. Yes, the explosion-meister himself. While this may be a diversion from his explosion-fests, the substitution of five stunning women is probably seen as superior, or at least equal, to the teenage fans that Bruckheimer brings out to the movie theatres in droves.
Piper Perabo (who also starred in this summer’s The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle) plays Violet, a Jersey girl who moves to New York to launch her songwriting career. When she realizes how tough the business is, she needs a job. When she overhears about this bar, Coyote Ugly, she goes to look for a job. The whole "audition" thing and firing Perabo five minutes into her job just seems to drag Coyote Ugly on. The film is fairly predictable, and if it wasn’t for some spiffy dancing, Coyote Ugly would be a real bore. So, whenever Coyote Ugly director Dacid McNally wanders away from the dancing, you’ll be wondering what the hold up is.
Violet is renamed "Jersey" when she becomes a Coyote, and replaces the departing Zoe (Tyra Banks). Working at the bar, she is nervous, unlike her outgoing co-workers, Cammie (Izabella Miko) and Rachel (Bridget Moynahan), and her tough-talking boss Lil (Maria Bello). Violet needs to overcome her stage fright in order to sing her songs and move forward in her career. So we watch as she slowly becomes accustomed to working in front of so many people. Some up-beat and attractive dancing takes place, which will give you a short-lived sense of excitement, then McNally makea a huge mistake…trying to tell a story. If you actually want to know what they could possibly tell a story about, this is for you: Violet falls for a guy named Kevin (Adam Garcia) and he tries to help her cure her stage fright. Anyway, there is some ridiculous thing about comic books and other useless bonding moments, then they get back to dancing. Thank goodness. The dancing isn’t exactly breathtaking, but compared to the story, they should be up on the same tier as the Rockettes.
John Goodman plays Violet’s father, and he provides only the faintest hints of wit or thought. Of course, he gets up and dances at the end of the film, so he doesn’t exactly distance himself from the low standards set by the rest of Coyote Ugly.
Piper Perabo is cute and perky, the perfect girl for a cheery role. Tyra Banks is sultry and stunning, perfect for the glares she needs to toss. Bridget Moynahan is beautiful, and convincingly cuts pony-tails off of guys’ heads. Maria Bello can smile and frown, probably providing the most acting in the film. Izabella Miko is the best…looking…of the bunch. Get the point? THE GIRLS LOOK GREAT. But, to be quite honest, the story should have never left the pages of GQ, because these beautiful girls would have looked much better doing photo shoots for a magazine than making absolute fools of themselves on the big screen.
Very disapointing
It’s got pretty girls running a bar. What else can you ask for!
Why can’t this bar be in my town?
Okay, it isn’t going to win an Oscar…or even a free bag of fries, but as entertainment it is great! The typical out of town girl goes to the city to become great…and does, has been done in the movies over and over in the movies since shortly after Jolson put on the greasepaint.
The premise is contrite, the time frame is supposedly a lot longer than it seems in the movie…but the girls are gorgeous, the music kicks ass and the idea of a completely FUN bar is overwhelming.
I loved this movie. Piper Perabo is well cast for this role…she is going to go far! Maria Bello, absolutely gorgeous as ever, is the epitome of the hot bar owner. And the rest of the girls….well…outstanding. Tyra Banks is stunning, but her time on the screen is a bonus to the film.
If you are going to the movies for a socially redeeming flick, go see something else. If you are going to see a fun movie, pure entertainment…this is IT!
Loved this movie!!!
The Comfort Food of movies. No surprises, but I don’t care. A Guilty pleasure.
Beautiful girls don’t always make a great film; COYOTE UGLY lives up to its name

Not even looking at Tyra can solve this!
nice movie if you like pretty women dancing on bar tops
Well, I have to admit that I was curious about this movie for 2 reasons. One is the fact that is was a Jerry Bruckheimer movie (love his work) and the other is the bartenders
Unfortunately, this movie was only good for the latter. The girls were nice, but the plot was pretty drab. The bartending was interesting with the spinning bottle tricks and the water spraying and of course the bar top dancing. Even had John Goodman and LeeAnn Rimes (she has the majority of the tunes in the soundtrack) dancing.
Not one of Jerry’s better movies, but I guess everyone is entitled to a mistake
