Storyline
When Eastern European criminals Oleg and Emil come to New York City to pick up their share of a heist score, Oleg steals a video camera and starts filming their activities, both legal and illegal. When they learn how the American media circus can make a remorseless killer look like the victim and make them rich, they target media-savvy NYPD Homicide Detective Eddie Flemming and media-naive FDNY Fire Marshal Jordy Warsaw, the cops investigating their murder and torching of their former criminal partner, filming everything to sell to the local tabloid TV show "Top Story."

    Loved it!!!

  2. lajopy

    One of DeNiro’s worst movies

  3. cohen

    Pretty cool..
Unique, and well directed. Script could have been tighter. Jeppe was in it. Judging Amy is pretty hot.

  4. apryv

    Stunning movie!!

  5. mokk

action and suspense in an unbelievable movie, but worth watching

Definitely recommend. Great direction and ‘in your face’ cinematography.

    To much of nothing.
The story was OK, but the movie had so many useless scenes, under developed characters, and stupid, illigocal plotlines to be enjoyed. The characters didn’t click, and the most dynamic character dies halfway through the flick, what’s that all about?!?!? Sorry, this movie just completely missed the mark.

    Very good thriller
This movie is pretty shocking, with some brutal scenes and lots of surprises. Great bad guys too. I’d recommend it but not to those who are squeamish.

    A disturbing and provocative thriller!

    what, again??
how many times do we have to endure this tired old theme?
at least Mr. DiNiro’s "Meet the Parents" was intentionally funny.

Poor editing. Poor script. The plot line was forced. You could see the mini-formulas at work. Too bad that Deniro got in on this one. Its failures really gut this project and leave you unable to groove on anything about this film.

The first great film of 2001 - see it!

    They should all be ashamed.
Somebody I know saw this movie and Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed were in the audience. If Laurie Anderson had been there when *I* saw this movie, I probably would have stared at her through the whole thing, because the back of Laurie Anderson’s head would surely be more interesting than "15 Minutes".

What a boring movie. Not just boring, but completely illogical. Why doesn’t Avery Brooks have a bigger role? Because the screenwriter (also the director and co-producer, what’s up with that? Who is this guy?) doesn’t want him to. Avery Brooks is Bobby DeNiro’s partner in the movie, and you’d think that as a result of the events which unfold, Hawk would be right in there in the thick of things. But he’s not, he’s just kind of off at the sidelines. In the last scene of the movie, he’s shown just kinda sitting on a curb off to the side of the big final scene.

At one point they had a scene that was supposed to be witty banter between Ed Burns and DeNiro. At least I think it was supposed to be witty. And maybe there were a couple of witty banter scenes thrown in there…. but you have to be on the look out, because they’re neither witty nor banter. The timing is all for crap.

And it’s so looooooong. Like, over 2 hours, for no reason whatsoever. There are so many useless scenes, at least a half hour could’ve been cut out with no effect on the semi-coherent plot. And who is this guy who wrote and directed it? Does he have pictures of everyone in hollywood doing bad things? There are all these people doing cameos, for no real reason. Maybe they were saying something about fame, but it didn’t resonate with me. Nothing in the movie did. It was just bad.

A short list of the actors who were in this movie but shouldn’t have been:

    Kim Catrall
    Avery Brooks
    David Alan Grier
    Charlize Theron

It didn’t add to the movie, it was just distracting:
    "Look, it’s Hawk!"
"Look, it’s David Alan Grier! Man, he’s hilarious"
"Look it’s Charlize Theron, but she’s not getting naked… what’s going on? I’m confused! It’s Charlize Theron!"
"Look, it’s Kim Catrall! She’s so *old*, wow."

Lou Reed apparently didn’t like it at all. Another example of Lou’s good taste. I’m with Lou on this one, even though I don’t like him because he’s got Laurie Anderson on his arm. This movie was "15 Minutes" of pure torture stretched out for 2 hours and 20 minutes. Heh, clever word-play. I’m a critic. *snort*
