Pretty stinkin’ funny!
Watched this on HBO to kill a couple of hours. Surprised to find it was way funnier than I expected it to be. Dave Chappell is killer. All the black/white cliche’s and stereotypes are wonderfully exploited and abused by everyone. Not deep at all. No social commentary. Just a funny flik. I liked it.
This definitely isn’t the 70’s Shaft…
It’s actually more entertaining and watchable. I’ve been through my "blacksploitation" period, having caught a number of such movies. None of them were as good as this one, not even Shaft or Superfly. Which says a lot (or nothing at all).
This is like Blaxploitation films…
But is never even half-serious. Not that it matters, as it is very funny. The only major flaw is that its stereotypes occasionally come off as a lack of taste/intelligence in its creators than all that funny and it never feels like it has anything serious to say about the race issue, except maybe that preserving culture is a must. It has a great, whacky style to it and I recommend it. I also recommend The Mad Adventures of "Rabbi" Jacob, a French comedy that I happened to watch around the same time and which has a lot of parallels to this, including its flaws.
I enjoyed it, but I saw it for free. You can’t trust me on this one.
It brings nothing new to the table, but funny nonetheless.
Consistently Cracked My Cracker Ass Up
If you’re 30 or older this will CRACK YOU UP.. . if not.. don’t bother.
Really funny, but only if you remember the 70s. Shut yo mouth!
Surprise! I actually enjoyed it!
Some viewers are not old enough to remember the afro hairdos and the sixties, with the result that a lot of the dialog and jokes will be totally lost on them. I would not recommend anyone less than thirty-five bother to go unless you are a sixties and seventies connoseur and know what it’s all about. We enjoyed this immensely.
slapstic like austin powers, ilikd the music scenes sum laugh betr than lady man
Stereotypical race comedy, still very funny.
I definitely laughed a lot at this movie. I was honestly expecting something pretty horrible after about 15 minutes of watching, but it does seem to get better. If you want to find out what happened to Doogie Howser’s career and get a good laugh check this movie out. Don’t expect too much and it will pull a few laughs from you.
Although a 5, a "High Five" . . .
I honestly thought I was going to see the new Chris Rock/Anthony Hopkins movie. Imagine my surprise. Anyway, this is a parody piece — goofy, silly and formulaic. And I liked it. Laughed a lot. Makes fun of most of the stereotypical white/black labels.
