 Storyline
In World War II, the outcome of the battle of Guadalcanal will strongly influence the Japanese's advance into the pacific. A group of young soldiers is brought in as a relief for the battle-weary Marine units. Soul mates Chris ('Robin Williams (I)' (qv)) and Annie ('Annabella Sciorra' (qv)) couldn't be happier, having married each other and had two wonderful children. Unforutnately, tragedy strikes when they lose them both in a car accident, and then again for Annie many years later when Chris is killed in another accident. Taking it upon himself to rescue her, Chris ventures into the pit of Hell with Albert and a Tracker ('Max von Sydow' (qv)) to save his wife from the damnation she doesn't even know she is forcing on herself. This is a beautiful story that reminds us that love is stronger than death.

 Storyline
Kathleen Kelly, owner of a little and famous bookstore for children's books, has an affair.  Storyline
A former L.A. drug dealer (Thomas Jane) has moved to Houston to make a new life for himself as a married architect. Everything falls apart when he is suddenly visited by one of his former cohorts (Aaron Eckhart) who comes carrying heroin. Discovering the dope, the architect flushes it down the drain.
